Check out five of our favorite local destinations.

Edison Food + Drink Lab  |  912 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL

The brainchild of acclaimed chef and four-time James Beard semifinalist Jeannie Pierola, Edison Food + Drink Lab provides a truly unique culinary experience. Pierola’s creations are as quirky as they are inventive—deconstructions, nitrogen-creations, and exquisitely well-prepared seafood and cocktails. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of Edison is that the price is kept incredibly reasonable for the food quality. It is one of the best restaurants in the city, and it somehow manages not to break the bank.

Oxford Exchange  |  420 West Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, FL

What is Oxford Exchange? Is it a restaurant? A bookstore? An event space? A workspace? The answer is yes, yes, yes, and yes. Generally, when an establishment has a goal as lofty as—as they themselves put it—creating a place “where community happens,” they tend to fall short here and there. But Oxford is a special place. The restaurant is great; the bookstore is charming; the event space is beautiful; and somehow it all works together cohesively to create this truly communal atmosphere.

Boca Tampa  |  901 West Platt St., Tampa, FL

It seems nearly every restaurant now touts itself as “farm-to-table,” but Boca Tampa is actually, authentically farm-to-table. Their menu is based on the freshest ingredients they can acquire from local farms—and they know how to prepare it. The food is wildly fresh and flavorful, served in a warm, inviting atmosphere—with outdoor seating—and they have one of the best brunches in the city.

David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts  |  1010 North W.C. MacInnes Pl., Tampa, FL

As we shift gears a bit from food to entertainment, we can say that the Straz Center (previously the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center) is one of the largest theaters of its kind in the country—and one of the most highly acclaimed! It hosts theater productions, dance performances, concerts, film screenings, and opera over its five venues, so there’s something for all tastes. Their event calendar is as eclectic as it gets, featuring world-class performers from around the globe.

Tampa Convention Center  |  333 South Franklin St., Tampa, FL

We close out our list with the Tampa Convention Center. When one thinks of convention centers, the first images that come to mind are generally not palm trees and shoreside cabanas. But Tampa’s Center, which is situated right on the coast, has all of that. They hold everything from volleyball tournaments to conferences, consumer showcases, and an array of conventions, including the Tampa Bay Comic Con, and it’s all just a short distance from Manor Riverwalk’s new luxury apartments for rent in Downtown Tampa.
